DESCRIPTION

Imperial Stout aged 18 months in Port Bourbon Barrels & cellared for an additional 30 months ~ Our French oak aging barrels were first put to use in Portugal to age Port wine. The Sazerac Company then purchased the barrels to make their Port Barrel Finished ~ Isaac Bowman Bourbon. Shortly after, we acquired them and immediately filled the barrels with one of our specialty imperial stouts. After 18 months of barrel aging and an additional 30 months of cellaring, we present to you ~ Into the Maelstrom.

BACKSTORY

“A Descent into the Maelstrom”

An 1841 short story by Edgar Allan Poe where a man recounts his survival of a shipwreck by a hurricane at sea and the resulting whirlpool that followed. "You suppose me a very old man, but I am not. It took less than a single day to change these hairs from a jetty black to white, to weaken my limbs, and to unstring my nerves."
